Magic Wok Cantonese Cuisine in Markham

Not worthy for the money you spent there. Food were tasted terribly not up to the standard. There was only one servant in a big crowds dinning hall. We were wondering why we spent over $100 for a tinny fish there. Beware of the trap they set the price for the seafood by the pounds and make sure you ask ahead if there will be other extra hidden costs to cook the seafood. Not going back again!

Good food

Good service and consistent quality. The service staff is good with Asians and non Asians. At times the food can be greasy however you can ask for less oil. MSG use seems to be low. Been coming for years and quality of food is good and good value for the set dinner menus

Not the fanciest of Asian restaurant but totally hit the spot. Loved every dish we ordered and very traditional. Taro duck, pea sprout, steam pork Patty, sweet and sour pork all awesome. Free tofu soup as dessert.

Great old school Cantonese restaurant! Food is delicious every time I come here. As a warning service can get iffy when the restaurant is busy but this is a get place to go of you are craving some good Chinese food.

We've been to Magic Wok for at least 30 years as a family. The food has been consistent that entire time. As a kid I thought it was awesome. As an adult I recognize it's a solid staple of Cantonese cuisine in the Bay Area. Favorites are:Taro DuckSizzling Beef Hot and sour soupCantonese style noodlesSalty and spicy shrimpAnd many others..

Expensive, often very slow, and the oil is endless. But there is something truly magical about this restaurant.

Food is great but kitchen could be slow when restaurant is fully occupied.

Nice casual dining place with fresh Chinese dishes.

ZERO stars out of five!Crammed a party of five, WITH RESERVATION, into their smallest table, in spite of explicit instructions for a large lobster dish on reserve, which requires a lot of table space.No service whatsoever during dining, even after lobster shells stacked up 6 inches high.Poor cooking consistently, ruining a perfectly good lobster.Never to return. The MAGIC that once existed is GONE.

Foods here really tastes good and authentic. Service is fast and staffs are nice. They have a really nice view of Markham with their big windows plus the restaurant up on a hill. Prices are from moderate to expensive. I've been dining here for 6 months already . Just needs to improve marketing aspects. Improve location, because its better if they are located in a busy area and easy to access location :)

If you want authentic Cantonese food, this is the place to be. If you want spicy, salty, greasy food, go elsewhere.Update on Sept 16,2017: The place has folded, the owner rented the building to another restaurant so, after 30 years+, there is no more Magic Wok!

Service is ok, decor is somewhat dated and food is ok. I think they need to update and re-train staff. Seems like a location for the retired.

Excellent Food

Good authentic Cantonese food. It is expensive but worth it. Try the birds nest and the beef tenderloin on a hot plate. Great fresh sea food.

Classic Chinese dishes with fresh seafood and a host of menu options

I love this place! My family has been going for several years now. The only thing is that they have been decreasing portion size and increasing prices over the years. Depending on where you sit in the restaurant, you may experience poor service at its busiest hours. Still a loyal customer but don't eat here as often due to these changes.

Amazing Stir-fry, hence the name. We 've been dining there since they were at Brimley and Sheppard

The side dishes are good and the standards are good.

Poor service and pour the whole bottle of oil in the dishes!You have to be very patient to get your first dish... 1 hour!Used to be a very famous restaurant, they ruined their reputation.

My family and I have been here for every celebration, holiday, Friday night outings, you name it. Food is great, people are awesome, and the atmosphere is just like home ... Hong Kong. However, I can only give them four stars, because we've been here for almost twenty years, and still haven't earned my Magic Wok Vicinity Black Rewards Card.

One hour to get the first plate. Food is decent.

Horrible experience. Wasted $100 for bad quality of food. Never going back!!
